About Us

Our History

The history of MarketSpice can be traced back to a small tea and spice shop established in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market in 1911. Our retail store is still located in this world-famous location today.

Through the years, we have offered a vast assortment of teas and spices available in bulk form or prepackaged. We are confident that our customers will always find superb quality and freshness in our products.

MarketSpice Cinnamon Orange Tea is our “Signature” blend of black tea with spices and flavorings. Known the world over for its wonderful aroma and natural sweetness, MarketSpice Tea is perfect anytime. Because of its spicy, sweet taste, our tea is also delicious iced. We have added our wonderful cinnamon and orange flavor combination to green, white, red bush (rooibos) and decaffeinated teas allowing our customers to enjoy this flavor in the tea of their choice.

We offer nearly 200 bulk teas as well as several teabag flavors. We continually develop new blends due to customer demand and trends. Our tea blends are made daily in small batches to ensure optimum freshness. In addition to teas, we have a large assortment of spices to suit all your cooking or baking needs and have created many of our own blends including several salt-free seasonings.

We are very proud to have our own candle line and carry several scents. We have flavored creamed honeys, tea cookies, hot chocolate blends, breath mints, iced tea packages, tea infused chocolates (not available in summer months), holiday drink mixes, barbeque sauces and ready to drink bottled tea. Our Cinnamon Orange bottled tea has been awarded 1st place in the flavored black tea category of the World Tea Championship. We have had several other award winners in multiple categories in this same competition.

We have added many wonderful tea and spice accessories to our website and will continue to add more. Our gift selection consists of seasonal or year-round gift baskets, tea/candle gift packs, attractive gift boxes and gift cards. We’re always happy to assemble your choice of products in a gift basket, which will allow you to choose the perfect group of items at the price you wish to pay.
MarketSpice is proud of its 100+ flavorful years of history and continues to share the belief that “spice is the variety of life”. We invite you to browse our online store, and we look forward to sharing our products with you!

Testimonials

Amazing selection and the staff was extremely helpful and conversational. The aroma of all the teas and spices mingles incredibly without being overwhelming. I travel to Seattle occasionally for work and this is definitely going to be one of the shops that I frequent to stock up on harder to find spices/herbs. I thought that their pricing was extremely reasonable as well.

They have a great selection of tea. Their signature Orange Cinnamon tea is great for the wintertime.

Alex Kitchens

Wonderfully friendly competent staff, delightful tea and spice, accessories as well as mugs, tea pots, etc.

Marilyn Matthews

Huge variety of spices for a reasonable (much less than most grocery stores) price. Their original, "market spice" tea (a cinnamon-orange black tea) is my favorite tea I've ever had, and is also cheaply priced! I go here for all of my spice needs.

Jess Sudo

I like this place very much. I'm always so excited about the different spices there and their origins. They have surprisingly high quality spices and it's refreshing to see the kind of variety they have.
